DISCERN (To know, understand, and choose what is true and right versus wrong or evil through the power of God’s Spirit)

II Samuel 2:17  Then the handmade said, the word of my Lord the king shall now be comfortable: for as an Angel of God, so is my Lord the king to discern good and bad: therefore, the Lord thy God will be with thee.

I King 3:9  Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

I King 3:11 And God said unto him, because thou hast asked this thing, and has not asked for thyself long life; neither has asked riches for thyself, nor has asked the life of thy enemies; but has asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment.

Job 6:30  Is their iniquity in my tongue? Cannot my taste discern perverse things?

Matthew 16:3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather today: for this sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, you can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

FASTING (A discipline of abstinence of food or drink to intensify one’s ability to pray and to hear from God. By growing one’s faith by denying oneself and declaring the focus on Him.)

Nehemiah 9:1 Now in the 20 and 4th day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sack clothes, and earth upon them.

Esther 4:3 And in every Providence, withersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.

Psalm 35:13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; And my prayer returned into my own bosom.

Daniel 9:3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplication, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:

Genesis 17:14 And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.

Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Matthew 11:29-30 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; For I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your soul. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the grafted word, which is able to save your soul.
